The relevance of the chosen topic lies in the following. The headline is the first piece of textual information that media consumers see in the media. The title of the material creates a first impression and thus influences the reader even before they read the article. First, the headline should grab attention, and second, it should match the content. We should also note that in the context of a full-scale war, which is also being waged in the information space, Ukrainian media professionals must carefully prepare their media products, especially headlines, so as not to unwittingly become a weapon in the hands of the aggressor. USI Online is an authoritative local online media outlet that regularly publishes journalistic materials, so we consider its selection as a research subject to be entirely justified. Headlines in the media are a subject of scientific interest for journalism scholars. Ukrainian and foreign experts are researching this area, identifying the characteristics of this part of the media product. In particular, there are various typologies. In our study, we chose two classifications: by content and by structure. In accordance with the tasks set, the publications of “USI Online” were analyzed. The research period was from January to November 2025. Materials from the ‘Interviews’ and “Blogs” sections were used for the study. The study revealed that the vast majority of authors prefer to choose so-called problem-oriented or descriptive headlines. This means that after reading such a headline, the reader immediately understands the topic or problem raised by the author. Intriguing titles, which, on the contrary, do not reveal the essence of the content of the work but arouse the reader’s interest, are much less common. It was also found that interviews, which are mainly prepared by editorial staff, have only two types of headlines. Blog headlines, on the other hand, which are written by fewer journalists, are more diverse. This can be explained by the fact that editorial staff adhere to the style professed by the media and may be limited in their choice of headline type. Thus, by studying the headlines in the selected publication, it was possible to draw conclusions about trends in the creation of headlines as a modern media product in the regional Ukrainian media.
