В статье освещен вопрос о похищенных в 70-ых годах Северной Кореей японцах, который представлен как одна из многих до сих пор не решенных проблем в отношениях между Японией и КНДР, а также состояние его решения на данный момент.
The following article describes the problem of abducted by North Korea Japanese citizens and its role in developing of cooperation between Japan and DPRK in modern times. After short overview of the issue, the history of the abductions is introduced. This question transformed into a real and often discussed political problem only more than 20 years after the abductions were committed, during the visit of Japanese PM to Pyongyang in 2002, when North Korean. leader Kim Jong-Il admitted that the crime had happened indeed (previously all accusations were denied). In addition, the visit of advisor of Japanese prime minister Isao Iijima in 2013 is highlighted as one of quite important moments both in developing of North Korea-Japan relations and making progress in solving the issue, because Japan managed to seize the initiative in the region and negotiate with Pyongyang about the last of the abducted. Role of Japanese society on the process is also mentioned as unfortunately destructive as it binds hands of the government in the field of choosing political means for investigation of the abducted case. Another problem, that is slowing down the process, are Japanese sanctions on North Korea for its nuclear tests and aggressive and uncompromising position that has been taken by the DPRK
