dc.description.abstractThe article deals with the problem of gender stereotype in relation to the role of women in society on the example of the situation of war. The author demonstrates various approaches to the role of women in society, drawing attention to the fact that both traditional and modern ideas about the role of women are characterized by a duality. On the one hand, the role of women is reduced to the role of keeper of the hearth, family and gender, to the role of mother and wife. And on the other hand, since ancient times, there has been recognition of the fact of female domination and the possibility of women as warriors. The article shows the historical development of the concept of women's emancipation and different evaluations of the process of emancipation. The author demonstrates that today the participation of women in military operations becomes a social norm, which destroys the habitual stereotype. The author shows that in the practice of modern countries, the appointment of a woman as the Minister of Defense becomes popular. Equally popular is the recognition of a female warrior in military conflicts in the countries of the East, as demonstrated by the Kurdish women's detachments of the Peshmerga. The article shows the national action plan for the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" for the period until 2020
