dc.description.abstractЗагальна проблема, яка підіймається у статті, є урбаністична проблематика в медіа. Недостатнє висвітлення життєдіяльності міст в українському медіапросторі свідчить про актуальність вивчення відомих світових прикладів. Конкретизуючи загальну проблему, ми звертаємося до урбаністичної рубрики «The Guardian» («Guardian Cities»). Визначено порядок денний рубрики за 2025 рік: перше місце займає проблема екології міст. Окреслено основні тематичні напрями екологічної проблематики, географію матеріалів, рішення, які пропонуються в медіа. Зазначено подання аналітичних матеріалів, які вписують локальні проблеми у глобальний контекст. uk
dc.description.abstractThe general problem brought up in the article is the urban issues in the media. The lack of coverage of city life in the Ukrainian mediaspace indicates the relevance of studying the known examples in the world. Focusing on the general problem, we turn towards the urbanistic column of “The Guardian” (“Guardian Cities”). The defined agenda of the column for 2025 follows as such: the first place is taken by the ecology of the cities, which takes 38,2% of the published materials. That the first place in the agenda is taken by specifically ecological issues highlights the utmost importance of the city ecology for the media’s audience. It can be said that most of the materials are of the analytical kind, and the authors tie any local phenomena to the global context, mostly to the global warming issue. It’s important that the authors of the project turn to the city problems in many regions of the world. Based on this, the audience can compare and see the proper global state of the city ecology issues that are covered by the media. Also important to note is the use of scientific studies that are presented to the readers of the media in an accessible form. Several of the materials have a political aspect: the authors quite often hold a critical opinion of politicians who deny the global warming issue. However, we have found no materials about ecological issues for 2025 that support the opinion of ecology issue sceptics. It’s important to emphasise the constructability of materials of “Guardian Cities”: the vast majority of the materials offer possible solutions to the highlighted issue in a given material, and offer examples of solving similar problems in specific cities. Therefore, the practice of the urbanistic column in “The Guardian” gives us an example of the high-quality urbanistic journalism, covering ecological issues in city life around the world and offering solutions to said issues.en
