dc.description.abstractНарис присвячено життю та науковій спадщині проф. Валентини Венедиктівни Янко – всесвітньо відомої морської геологині й мікропалеонтологині, засновниці школи морської геології та палеонтології в ОНУ імені І. І. Мечникова. Окреслено ранні роки, освіту й становлення дослідниці; висвітлено ключові напрями її робіт: четвертинна історія Понто-Каспійсько-Середземноморського регіону, екологічна мікропалеонтологія, використання бентосних форамініфер як індикаторів клімату, рівня моря та забруднення, а також дослідження флюїдогенезу й метану на шельфі Чорного моря. Показано роль ученої в міжнародних проєктах IGCP/INQUA/COST, організації експедицій і конференцій, формуванні наукової школи та підготовці молодих фахівців. Узагальнено визнання а нагороди, зокрема звання GSA International Honorary Fellow. uk
dc.description.abstractThis essay is dedicated to the life and scientific legacy of Prof. Valentyna Venedyktivna Yanko, a world-renowned marine geologist and micropaleontologist, founder of the school of marine geology and paleontology at Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University. It outlines the early years, education, and development of the researcher; highlights the key areas of her work: the Quaternary history of the Pontic-Caspian-Mediterranean region, ecological micropaleontology, the use of benthic foraminifera as indicators of climate, sea level, and pollution, as well as research on fluidogenesis and methane on the Black Sea shelf. The role of the scientist in international IGCP/INQUA/COST projects, the organization of expeditions and conferences, the formation of a scientific school, and the training of young specialists is shown. Recognition and awards, in particular the title of GSA International Honorary Fellow, are summarized.en
