Анотація
Стаття присвячена аналізу трансформації суспільно-політичного та медійного дискурсу Японії в умовах загострення міжнародних конфліктів і зростання безпекових викликів у Східноазійському регіоні. Досліджується суперечність між традиційною пацифістською ідентичністю держави, закріпленою в статті 9 Конституції Японії, та сучасними потребами забезпечення національної безпеки в умовах зміни геополітичної ситуації. Особливу увагу приділено впливу регіональних і глобальних конфліктів, зокрема зростанню напруженості навколо Тайваню, активізації військової політики Китаю, ракетним випробуванням Північної Кореї, а також наслідкам російсько-української війни для японського політичного дискурсу. У роботі проаналізовано позиції ключових політичних акторів, урядових структур, опозиційних сил та громадянського суспільства щодо перегляду безпекової стратегії держави. Значна увага приділяється ролі японських медіа у формуванні суспільної думки, висвітленні питань ремілітаризації та інтерпретації змін у зовнішньополітичному курсі країни. Досліджуються основні наративи, що домінують у медійному просторі, зокрема дискурс «активного пацифізму», необхідності зміцнення обороноздатності та збереження післявоєнних демократичних цінностей. Методологічну основу дослідження становлять дискурс-аналіз, контент-аналіз матеріалів японських медіа та порівняльний аналіз політичних заяв і стратегічних документів. Встановлено, що сучасний японський дискурс характеризується поступовим переосмисленням пацифізму як гнучкої концепції, здатної адаптуватися до нових міжнародних реалій. Зроблено висновок, що Японія перебуває на етапі пошуку балансу між історично сформованими пацифістськими принципами та необхідністю посилення безпекового потенціалу в умовах зростаючої нестабільності міжнародного середовища.
This article examines the transformation of Japan’s socio-political and media discourse in the context of growing international conflicts and increasing security challenges in East Asia. The study focuses on the contradiction between Japan’s traditional pacifist identity, rooted in Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, and the country’s contemporary security needs in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment. Particular attention is given to the impact of regional and global conflicts, including tensions surrounding Taiwan, China’s expanding military activity, North Korea’s missile tests, and the influence of the Russian-Ukrainian war on political debates in Japan. The paper analyzes the positions of major political actors, government institutions, opposition parties, and civil society regarding changes in Japan’s security policy. Special emphasis is placed on the role of Japanese media in shaping public opinion, covering debates on remilitarization, and interpreting shifts in the country’s foreign policy. The research explores the key narratives present in the media sphere, especially the ideas of “active pacifism,” the need to strengthen national defense, and the preservation of postwar democratic values. The study is based on discourse analysis, content analysis of Japanese media materials, and a comparative analysis of political statements and strategic documents. The findings demonstrate that contemporary Japanese discourse reflects a gradual rethinking of pacifism as a flexible concept that can adapt to new international realities. The article concludes that Japan is currently attempting to balance its long-standing pacifist principles with the necessity of strengthening national security in an increasingly unstable international environment.
