dc.description.abstractОб’єкт уваги автора статті — оповідання «Джума». Воно входить до другої частини роману сучасного українського письменника Валерія Шевчука «Дім на горі», але є відносно самостійним твором — в оповіданні свій герой, свій сюжет. Це історія, яку, як і низку інших, розповідає один із персонажів роману. Мета статті — визначити жанрову природу цього твору. Автор доводить у статті тезу, що оповідання містить елементи притчі. Він мотивує свою думку тим, що ключову роль у творі відіграє ситуація життєвого вибору, що робить герой, а також тим, що цей вибір той робить, спираючись на загальнолюдські цінності. Завданням вивчення жанрової природи оповідання пояснюється і вибір мето-дики дослідження — автор статті спирається на міфопоетичний, синергетичний та нарратологічний методи. Дослідження наратологічних стратегій письменника у статті мотивується тим, що увага Шевчука сконцентрована на внутрішньому стані героя, на його осмисленні своєї причетності до загибелі людей, його переживанні цього відкриття і на тому рішенні, яке він обирає. У зв’язку з тим, що наратор непомітно для читача перейшов на точку зору героя, передав події через призму їх сприйняття героєм оповідання, читачеві складно судити, відбувається все, що описано, в реальності або є результатом уяви (марення) вмираючої людини. Автор статті вважає, що нарація в оповіданні «Джума» має інтроспективний характер, що дає можливість сфокусуватися на ментальних і психічних процесах, які переживає герой твору. І водночас така нарація відкриває перед читачем різні варіанти інтерпретації того, що сталося. Така варіативність рецепції є, як відомо, ознакою художнього твору. uk
dc.description.abstractThe author of this article focuses on the short story “Juma”. It is part of the second book of the novel “House on the Mountain” by contemporary Ukrainian writer Valeriy Shevchuk. This is one of the stories told by the shepherd Ivan. The story has its own plot and its own protagonist. The purpose of this article is to define the genre of this work. The author considers that “Juma” is a parable. Its main genre characteristic is the choice, which the protagonist makes. He decides to kill himself and the evil that has settled within him. In doing so, he prevents a catastrophe that threatens the lives of many people. The choice of research methodology is also explained by the fact that the connection between the short story by Valeriy Shevchuk and the parable is being studied. The author used mythopoetic, synergetic, and narratological methods. Studying of the author’s narratological strategies helps determine the protagonist’s perspective on events. The reader sees the worldview the same way the protagonist does. Thus, the reader gains a comprehensive understanding of the protagonist. However, this also complicates understanding what is actually happening in the story. The first version: the reader is informed of supernatural events. The hero arrives at a village, and the evil spirit he brings with him kills all the people and animals in the village. Another version holds that the hero goes nowhere. He’s sick and dying. And all that is revealed to the reader is a dream, the delirium of a dying man. In any case, the important decision is the hero’s decision after realizing he bears evil. The author of the article concludes that the narrative in “Juma” is introspective. This type of narrative helps to focus on the mental and psychological processes the hero experiences. At the same time, such a narrative opens up various interpretations of what happened to the reader. Such variability in reception is, as we know, a hallmark of a work of fiction.en
