| dc.description.abstract | The prostate is an exocrine gland in males, responsible for fertility and the action of testosterone, both of which influence sexual function. It is composed of glandular and muscular tissue encased in a capsule. The glandular tissue produces prostatic fluid, which is crucial for diagnostics with expressed prostatic secretion (EPS). The prostate's hormonal function involves the concentration of several hormones, including androgens like testosterone, estrogens such as estradiol and estriol, and progestogens like progesterone. It is also important to assess the concentration of spermatozoa, white blood cells, red blood cells, macrophages, amyloid bodies, lecithin bodies, and tubule epithelial cells in prostatic fluid. In addition to morphological tests of prostatic fluid, measuring the levels of pituitary and steroid hormones provides a comprehensive understanding of the prostate's functional capabilities. | en |
