dc.description.abstractThe practical relevance of the topic can be explained by the tumultuous and deeply unstable political environment in South Caucasus region created by the protracted tussle between Azerbaijan and Armenia along with complex and ambiguous relations between their powerful neighbors: Iran and Turkey. Such unstable political climate, which is mostly shaped by simmering ethnic tensions and fight for regional dominance, paves the way not only for the greater regional chaos, but also has a humongous effect on economic and political processes worldwide. Therefore, in the times of great instability, these regional dynamics should be thoroughly studied. The scientific relevance of the topic is defined by the thorough analysis of the countries’ foreign policies that are shaped by their ambitions and interests. Moreover, such relevance can also be explained by the interconnectedness of regional affairs with global political and economic situation, proving that they shape each other deeply and permanently. Such topic, if studied extensively, demonstrates its multilayered nature that can be useful for a better understanding of different world processes. In this regard, the study of this particular topic can be useful for the comprehension of the situation in Ukraine. While being two hot spots where instability is a result of a changing world order, Ukraine and South Caucasus region are also part of the Russian’s zone of interest, therefore, events that are taking place in either of them are likely to affect the other.
