Effect of spring flood and hypoxia on microbiological and hydrochemical structure of the north-western part of the Black Sea(Одеський національний університет імені І. І. Some d ata are given on distribution o f nutrients and variations of the m icrobiological regime in the north-w estern p art o f the Black Sea under the influence of spring flood and autum n hypoxia. It is shown, th at high phosphorus concentrations and bacteria num ber typical for surface waters in spring flood were habitual for bottom w aters during hypoxia too. The obtained results testify that am ong the factors causing eutrophication o f the north-w estern shelf the role o f the secondary pollution released from bottom sedim ents with the developm ent o f wide hypoxia areas is com parable with the river flood influence. The role of microorganisms in self-purification from pollution and self-restoration of marine environment of the Some data are given on the intensity of microbiological utilisation of the easilyoxidizable organic matter (OM) in the Black Sea coastal waters suffering moderate and intensive anthropogenic pressure. The rate of OM microbial destruction reaches its maximum values in the Danube region (1.8 g C/(m3 day) and exceeds the intensity of this process in the background regions 30—60 times. The background regions are characterised by balance o f production-destruction processes, but in the Danube region and near the coast of Odessa destruction processes exceed the photosynthesis intensity 2—4 times. Variations in microbiological characteristics of the north-western shelf of the Black Sea(Одеський національний університет імені І. І. The analysis of long-term data on seasonal dynamics of microbiological processes with taking into account abiotic factors in the north-western part of the Black Sea is presented. The annual variation of total bacteria number, aerobic oxidation rate of the organic m atter and the rate of carbon dioxide assimilation by microorganisms is shown. In the surface waters annual dynamics of all microbiological parameters had synchronous type and close connection with the water temperature. In the bottom waters the variations of number and functional activity of bacteria are connected with hypoxy and anaerobic conditions.
