    Mites (acari) phoretic on six-toothed spruce bark beetle, pityogenes chalcographus linnaeus (coleoptera: curculionidae: scolytinae), in Western Siberia, Russia

    In total 11 species of mites were revealed to be phoretic on Pityogenes chalcographus L. in a spruce-pine forest near Tyumen, Western Siberia, Russia: Uroobovella ipidis (Vitzthum, 1923) (Urodinychidae), Trichouropoda polytricha (Vitzthum, 1923) (Trematuridae), Pleuronectocelaeno barbara Athias-Henriot, 1959 (Celaenopsidae), Schizosthetus sp. (Parasitidae), Dendrolaelaps (Ipidodendrolaelaps) quadrisetosimilis Hirschmann, 1960 (Digamasellidae), Proctolaelaps fiseri Samsinak, 1960 (Melicharidae), Siculobata (Paraleius) leontonycha (Berlese, 1910) (Scheloribatidae), Histiostoma piceae Scheucher, 1957 (Histiostomatidae), Pyemotes dryas (Vitzthum, 1923) (Pyemotidae), Heterotarsonemus coleopterorum (Schaarschmidt, 1959), and Tarsonemus bistridentati Magowski and Khaustov, 2006 (Tarsonemidae). The hyperphoresy by deutonymphs of Histiostoma picea and Trichouropoda polytricha on other phoretic mites on bark beetles are recorded.

    Mites of the genus Proctolaelaps Berlese, 1923 (Acari: Mesostigmata: Melicharidae) associaTED with Bark Beetles in Asian Russia

    Six mite species of the genus Proctolaelaps Berlese, 1923 (Acari: Mesostigmata: Melicharidae) are recorded from bark beetles and in their galleries in Asian Russia. One of them, Proctolaelaps dendroctoni Lindquist and Hunter, 1965, is found for the first time in Palaearctic; its female is redescribed. Proctolaelaps hystricoides Lindquist and Hunter, 1965, P. hystrix (Vitzthum, 1923) and P. scolyti Evans (1958) are recorded for the first time in Russia. A key to females of the genus Proctolaelaps, associated with subcortical beetles, is provided.

    On the phoresy and morphology of Pavania Carabidophila Khaustov, 2005 (Acari: dolichocybidae)

    The phoresy of Pavania carabidophila Khaustov, 2005 (Acari: Dolichocybidae) on the carabid beetle Bembidion (Plataphus) lucillum Bates, 1883 (Coleoptera: Carabidae) is documented for the first time with the aid of SEM microscopy. Supplementary description of previously unknown characters of P. carabidophila is provided. The attachment sites and type of attachments of dolichocybid mites are discussed.

    The first record of the genus Myrmozercon Berlese (Acari: Mesostigmata: Laelapidae) in the Neotropical region and a description of a new species

    A new species of the mite genus Myrmozercon Berlese, 1902, Myrmozercon patagonicus n. sp., is described and illustrated based on adult females collected on ants, Camponotus sp., in Southern Chile (Patagonia). The new species differs from all congeners by the following combination of characters: dorsal shield hypotrichous; dorsal cuticle not hypertrichous; setae st1–st5 present; anal shield with circum-anal setae only; peritremes short; ventral soft cuticle hypertrichous; fixed and movable cheliceral digits edentate; epistome smooth; leg setation not hypotrichous. This new species represents the first Myrmozercon from the Neotropical region. A key to non-Palaearctic species of Myrmozercon is provided.
