dc.description.abstractIn recent years, the role of nuclear weapons in shaping Russia's foreign policy has become increasingly important. Russia is adopting more assertive geopolitical strategies to achieve its ambitions. The deterrent effect of nuclear arms was an integral element of international security throughout the Cold War period and continued afterward to affect not only Russia's military posture but also the nature of its diplomatic relations. This topic is relevant since it is necessary to reassess the function of nuclear capabilities in Russian foreign policy critically. Additionally, the topic is politically relevant as it shows awareness of such dynamics. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for Ukrainian policymakers and diplomats, as it helps them assess and respond to the security threats posed by Russia's nuclear arsenal.
