Визначено основні недоліки освітньої та наукової галузі та напрямки підвищення її ефективності в Україні.В статье рассмотрена сущность человеческого капитала и его значение в устойчивом развитии экономических систем. Определено, что в современном обществе интеллектуальный капитал является основой благополучия и богатства. Проанализирована связь между уровнем и качеством образования и экономическим развитием стран с использованием индекса человеческого развития. Определены основные недостатки образовательной и научной отрасли и направления повышения ее эффективности в Украине.The article examines the essence of human capital, and its importance in the sustainable development of economic systems. It is noted that in modern society intellectual capital is the basis of welfare of the nation. The link between the level and quality of education and the countries’ economic development with the use of the index of human development is analyzed. The basic disadvantages of the educational and scientific branch and directions of its efficiency increase in Ukraine are determined. It was emphasized that the direction of countries’ economic progress with unstable and insufficient developed economies is the efforts concentration on those economic branches which the most developed countries have chosen for themselves. Human capital contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the economy, and it is a major resource for the future development of economic systems. The reorientation of the economy to the creation and effective use of human capital will increasingly determine the ability of the national economy to raise the standard of the population life.
