Despite the fact that Clausewitz wrote about two hundred and Sun Tzu - more than two thousand years ago, their ideas are still relevant. Comparing both concepts, it has to be emphasized that the phenomenon of war in the works of both researchers are rather different: Clausewitz is interested in the art of warfare, while Sun Tzu pays attention to the strategies prevailing the very battle: from military preparations to diplomatic actions. The ultimate goal of war is also described differently in both works. Clausewitz aims to maximize the loss of the enemy, endorses cruelty and massive bloodshed. On the contrary, Sun Tzu's approach to the war is more philosophical, and it can be interpreted in the light of the moral issues of war. Sun Tzu's philosophical approach is reflected in most conflicts of the present day and is reminiscent of effective methods of avoiding them.
