Розглядається поступове розширення функцій Відділу, яке призвело до структурних змін на різних етапах його діяльності.В статье описан процес образования и развития Отдела научной обработки документов и организации каталогов Научной библиотеки Одесского национального университета имени И. И. Мечникова. Рассматривается постепенное расширение функций Отдела, которое повлекло структурные изменения на разных этапах его деятельности.The article describes the process of creation and development of the Department of Scientific Processing of Documents and Organization of Catalogs of the Scientific Library of the Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University. The archival materials establish the date and reasons for the establishment of the Department and its subsequent transformation. Changes in the structure and staff of the Department are associated with the expansion of its functions. The areas of work of Department at different stages of activity (cataloguing of new receipts, a rekatalogization of old fund, the organization and maintaining card and the electronic catalog, etc.) are considered in detail. Special attention is paid to improvement of library catalogs NB ONU (the 1930th – the 2000th) as to one of the most important areas of work of Department.
