P. 345–347.1822-296Xhttps://dspace.onu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/44325The rate of warming in the Arctic in recent years, which exceeds significantly the similar indicator in other regions of the globe (the so-called Arctic amplification), contributes to the further development of shipping through the Northwest Passage of the Canadian Arctic. It leads to a significant reduction in distance and time savings for maritime transport on the route between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. This work is devoted to finding a statistical relationship between the spread of ice at the beginning of the route, in the Davis Strait and the Labrador Sea, during the period of maximum ice spread and the speed of zonal (U-wind) and meridional (V-wind) winds at an altitude of 10 m above sea level. In accordance with the goal, areas and points in the North Atlantic and adjacent territories with the maximum correlation coefficients between the greatest ice distribution in the studied area and the direction and speed of the surface wind throughout the year were identified in this work.
