dc.description.abstractВиходячи із новітніх досліджень у статті пропонується більш глибока реконструкція етноніма поляки порівняно до існуючої у вигляді псл. *pol- ʻполеʼ. Давня консолідація польських (словʼянських) племен, що свідчиться у І ст. н. е. (пор. форманти Sla-, Skla- ʻсловʼяни/склавіни та Wi-sla, Wi-skla ʻсловʼянська (річка)ʼ, та прадавній вплив Трипільського субстрату дозволяють віднести корінь *pol- до іє. *kwel- у значенні ʻземлеробиʼ. Останнє мотивує прадавню семантику розглядуваного етноніма поляки.uk
dc.description.abstractИсходя из современных исследований в статье предлагается более глубокая реконструкция этнонима поляки сравнительно с существующей в виде псл. *pol- ʻполеʼ. Давняя консолидация польских (славянских) племен, засвидетельствованных в I веке н. э. (ср. форманты Sla-, Sklaʻ славяне/склавиныʼ и Wi-sla, Wi-skla ʻславянская (река)ʼ, и прадавнее влияние Трипольского субстрата позволяют отнести корень *pol- к ие. *kwel- в значении ʻземледельцыʼ. Последнее является мотивацией прадавней семантики рассматриваемого этнонима поляки.uk
dc.description.abstractProblem. Most works consider the ethnonyms Polacy/Polyane in the primary meaning of ʻhabitants of the fieldsʼ. However, the results of modern studies allow a deeper examination of the origin of the ethnonym Polacy and discovery of its other motivation. Research motion. This article considers the followings positions: (1) the underlying viewpoint is the convergent development of peoples, pursuant to which the Polish ethnos was formed on the basis of territorial and gentile closeness of specific tribes whose name originates from the root PS *pol-; (2) in the 1st century AD these slavic tribes inhabited the banks of the Vistula this being confirmed by its name Wi-sla, Wi-skla having ancient formants of Sla-, Skla- with the meaning ʻslavic (river)ʼ; (3) the meaning ʻfieldʼ is secondary in the root *pol-, originating from the IE *kwel- ʻploughmenʼ influenced by the Trypillan substrate. Results. The ethnonyms Polacy / Polyane initially correlated with the meaning ʻploughmenʼ, but not ʻfieldʼ, although both concepts originated from one root PS *pol-.uk
