Анотація
У статті подано характеристику примірника видання «Повного опису кампанії в Росії в 1812» Е. Лабома з «розпорошеної» приватної бібліотеки графа Юзефа Грабовського. Особливу увагу приділено розкриттю особи власника книги та важливості культурного осередку, сформованого довкола його маєтку Луково.
В статье представлена характеристика экземпляра издания «Полного описания кампании в России в 1812» Э. Лабома из «рассеянной» частной библиотеки графа Юзефа Грабовского. Особое внимание уделено раскрытию личности владельца и важности культурного круга, сформированного вокруг его имения в Луково.
A copy of Relation complete de la campagne de Russie en 1812 by Eugene Labaume from N. Shilder private book collection attracted our attention thanks its interesting provenance. The half-title of the book contains an authograph «JGrabowski» as well as two stamps «I: G: a S:» and «Iozef Grabowski z Lukowa». The purpose of this article is to sketch the main biographical facts of its owner and to accentuate the importance of a cultural group formed around his estate in Lukowo. Author used comparative and historical methods and followed principles of source criticism. The article deals with political and public work of Jozef Grabowski. Jozef Grabowski (1791-1881) played a great part in cultural, political and national life of Grand Duchy of Posen. As a participant of the Napoleonic Wars he left interesting memoirs War Journals (Warsaw, 1905) holding manifold facts on Polish officers’ everyday life and occurrences of important battles. After crushing of the November Uprising a Polish patriot general Bem endeavored to reorganize Polish soldiers in Prussia and Galicia into Legions and lead them to France, but the Prussian government frustrated his plans. The immigrants were leaving Prussia in bands of between fifty and a hundred, and their journey through the various German principalities was greeted with enthusiasm by the local Polish communities; the patriotic activities of Jozef Grabowski at that time being an example. His selflessness and generosity saved lives of many of his compatriots. Franciszek Mickiewicz, brother of a Polish famous poet Adam Mickiewicz took refuge in ukowo for almost thirty years. Finding results may be useful for historians working on problems of the Napoleonic Wars, the November Uprising and Great Emigration, for historians of literature investigating the biography of Adam Mickiewicz and for bibliologists completing data on Greater Poland and Lublin Voivodeship private book collections. The study is the first step to virtual reconstruction of Jozef Grabowski’s private library. The continuation of this work weighs heavily in spite of difficulties concerned with limited information about other books coming from this «dispersed» collection.
