Fluorescent microscopy using acridine orange dye confirmed that bacteria phenol-
destructors used for water purification formed biofilm on the biofilter media of
different nature - zeolite, flaps mussels, synthetic carrier type VII, charcoal, peat,
ceramic tubes, sand.
