It has been shown that during long-term isolation of the estuary from the sea, catches always go sharply down and many species (both marine and freshwater) disappear completely. Under conditions of regulated river flow, water salinity in the reservoir depends only on atmospheric precipitation water entering the estuary from the coastal slopes and the operation of the inlet channel. The regulated water exchange between the estuary and the sea through the existing channel contributes to the overall stabilization of the ecosystem and, as a consequence, increases its productivity and fishery value; makes it possible to use the estuary as feeding pond for the Black Sea mullet, silverside, anchovy, flounder and gobies, which, after complete loss of the freshwater ichthyofauna in the estuary are the main commercial species. The purpose of this work is to study the current state of the Tiligul Estuary ichthyofauna and to consider the feasibility of taking measures to improve the operation of the inlet channel. The materials were collected during complex ichthyological surveys in the period of 2017-2018. |
