The Catalogue presents a description of the collection of the XVIth century editions preserved in the stacks of the Scientific Library of the Odessa Mechnikov National University. The University Library was founded in 1817 as a Library of the Richelieu Lyceum, which contained a number of antiquarian books. In 1865 the Lyceum was transformed into Novorossiiski University. In 1868 the University acquired a collection of books of Romuald Hube, a famous Polish bibliophile and connoisseur of the history of law. A great number of rare editions of the XVIth century (statutes, monuments of common law as well as works of prominent legal writers of the Middle Ages) makes the precious collection unique. At the end of the XIXth century the University Library was given some private collections, the most valuable of them being the library of the Vorontsov family. After 1917 the number of the XVIth editions increased and nowadays the University collections contains about 500 books on law, history, mathematics, philology, theology, etc. in 12 languages. All the editions are described de visu according to the International Standard Bibliographic Description for Older Monographic Publications (Antiquarian). The descriptions are arranged in alphabetic order. The notes contain reproductions of the owners’ records, with the preservation of peculiarities in their orthography and are dated approximately, autographs as well as ex librises, labels and stamps. The Catalogue contains indexes of the titles, publishers and printers, persons mentioned in the descriptions, owners as well as a chronological index. It also contains a list of used
