Recent European studies, in particular those performed in the framework of NitroEurope (2005-2011) and ECLAIRE (2011-2015) Projects with participation of research group of Odessa National I.I.Mechnikov University, had shown that arable land could act both as source and sink of СО2: its balance generally depended on the crop cultivated and peculiarities of economic activities. One of the most modern methods of СО2 flows measurement is the Eddy Covariance micrometeorological method of turbulent vertical fluxes, hereinafter called “EC method” [5], which helps to measure both emissions and consumption of gasses, also enabling to measure heat fluxes (latent heat of vaporisation, latent heat flux and impulse), which integrate over the studied area. We believe that application of micrometeorological methods, the EC method in particular, to study the ecosystems, is very urgent and necessary and in the near future it will help to better estimate greenhouse gasses emission from Ukraine in the framework of Kyoto Protocol. We also think that the future specialists (Geology, Geography and other natural sciences students) should get familiarized with current methods of greenhouse gasses emission measurement right now.
